Buzz Off….
Put your sound on to watch the video. This is the second year this has been a problem. (It’s also the second year I’ve had the horses home). I will preface this with we have a residential community with thousands of homes on one side of our property. There are 30 hobby beehives in those homes pretty near to us according to a neighbor friend that has bees and uses a beekeeping service that services the neighborhood. And unfortunately, not all hobby beekeepers know the needs of their bees on days like today (70 degrees when it is still winter). Sugar water is great, but bees actually need a lot…

My life is rocky right now…
We had a tandem truckload of concrete chunks (large aggregate rocks) delivered today. HA cute play on words in my subject line. (I know I know, dad joke). This is to remedy the fact that we did a bunch of dirt work to fix grading issues this past year. We are now discovering with all the snowmelt that it is working the way we wanted, which is, in turn, turning the drainage areas on the side of our driveway and our barn parking pad lower area into mud soup. This is not ideal. My car and our sideXside get stuck leaving the driveway going up the parking area to the…

For F*ck’s Sake, My Zoom Call Unmuted
Apparently, my Zoom meeting today decided I was yelling/talking enough on mute, that I didn’t mean to be on mute, so it unmuted me. IN THE MIDDLE OF CUSSING MY DOGS OUT for going bark-bonkers on the Amazon delivery guy through the office window. And before you call me out, I promise I was on mute because it said to me “You are muted. Press Alt+A to unmute your microphone, or press and hold the SPACE key to temporarily unmute.” I didn’t realize it unmuted me until I went to unmute myself. Only to find out I was no longer muted. So I apologized profusely to the people. Who thank…

It’s Frigid, Send Help.
If you haven’t seen the weather reports lately, Monday we went from 56° mid-day to -22.5° around midnight (per a hyper-local weather station about a mile away). That is a SEVENTYEIGHT POINT FIVE DEGREE WEATHER SWING. We haven’t gotten above 10° since. I am not ok. The horses, however, seem to be in heaven. Between an abundance of hay, warm mash 2x per day, double blanketed, and heated water (even though the weather tried to foil those plans by FREEZING HEATED WATER) – they are in horsey heaven. Really thankful for no upset tummies or colic, because that sort of weather swing is brutal. On a positive note I finally…

National Drink Wine Day!
I would be amiss to not post about National Wine Day considering *Wine* is in the name of the blog. Today is National Wine Day. Tell the others. Have a glass (or a bottle) and relax your night away in comfy PJs on the couch. I will be drinking a wine spritzer personally (Chardonnay and Peach Bubble Water mix) as soon as my workday ends. Luckily the horses are already blanketed the way they need to be for the night (wahoo for Colorado not being entirely bipolar for a couple of days). So there is no risk of it looking like a non-horse husband did the blanketing after my wine…

A Storm’s a Brewin’
Here in Colorado, we are supposed to get a pretty decent winter storm today through tomorrow early morning. In typical Colorado weather person fashion, we are expecting between 0-412 inches. I don’t mind snow, but I do wish it could snow at like 40* instead of the 20s with ridiculous wind we are expecting. I also hate the mud that ensues once we warm up after a good snow. The horses are all blanketed and ready, and they got their mash (regular ration of grain with some alfalfa pellets added and a LOT of water, plus table salt to help promote them being thirsty), so really they are pretty happy…

Welcome and Thanks for Stopping By!
If you haven’t stopped by my *About* section, you should! This blog is to cover basically every aspect of horse ownership, with some humor and fun thrown in. And if I am feeling extra, you might (read as definitely will) get ridiculous memes, or other things, that are not at all horse-related (but will be appreciated nonetheless, I am sure LOL). Things to expect: humor & sass, advice (take it or leave it ), product recommendations (and products to stay away from), cute horse photos, updates on my own horse adventures, and who knows what else. Things you should not expect: a mouth (keyboard) filter. Be sure to follow me…
